The Learning Center School (TLCS) is currently a Gr 1 - 12 school featuring an international curriculum. Our diploma is recognized by the Equivalency Department of the Qatar Ministry of Education. The students have a course of study similar to that of American schools that will prepare them for post-secondary study. Our graduates are studying at Georgetown University here in Education City, the College of the North Atlantic, and the Academic Bridge Program as well as abroad.
Staff and students share alike in a learning environment that advocates that we will all strive "to be the best we can be." We provide a program that directly positively affects academic, physical, emotional and social growth as well as developing an understanding of our position in our global communities.
Each of our students has an Alternative Education Plan designed by recognizing the strengths and areas in need of development. Each student is tested by our school psychologist and evaluated by our speech language pathologist prior to consideration for admission. Students additionally are afforded the opportunity to spend 2 -3 days observing as visitors in the grade for which they are applying. Our students are mostly Qatari, but we do have a significant percentage of international students among our population.
Our staff is dedicated to using best practices to meet the goals we have in place for our students and for ourselves. We have adopted several programs to achieve this: 6+1 writing program, 1-2-3 Magic, DEAR (Drop Everything And Read), integrated technology cross-curricular, the Atlas Rubicon curriculum planning software, and others. We engage in weekly professional development to ensure that we are confident in our delivery.
We are in the process of building a new school within Education City. TLCS will be able to serve more than twice our current population and will expand to add kindergarten and PreK. This is very exciting as the plans call for a state of the art facility with expected completion of the project in two to three years.
