The School Counselors

The school counselors at TLCS provide services to include: career and post-secondary counseling, brief situational or crisis counseling as needed, social skills training in partnership with classroom teachers, behavior plans in partnership with parents and teachers, and testing coordination for exams such as the SAT and TOEFL. The school counselor provides consultative services to students, parents, staff and administration regarding student needs, behavior and school issues. They assist in developing and maintaining professional relationships with appropriate community individuals and programs, and assist parents in finding appropriate community resources for their child as needed. Training and workshops may be provided for students, staff, parents and community agencies as needed.

Health Educator / School Nurse

The school nurse serves as the health advocate and educator for all school children and staff. The focus is on the promotion of healthy living styles and the prevention of illness and disability. Primary responsibilities include health assessments: including health and developmental history; observations of the child for development and health patterns; participation as the health specialist on the Child Study Team, as well as other duties. The goal of the school nurse is to strengthen and facilitate the educational process by identifying and assisting in the removal or modification of health-related barriers in order to help the child to learn in a more
